Tatyana Nieves Brown is an Afro-Puerto Rican and African American artist-researcher and based between London and Bayamón, Puerto Rico. Her practice broadly explores how states use design and materials to claim authority over public life, particularly in “sovereign-ish” geographies like Taiwan, Palestine, or Puerto Rico. Working across diverse media, she manipulates state materials and found objects into sculptures, soundscapes, collages, or experimental performances.
