Between Lands, Between Selves - a dance performance and conversation with Nela Elle

“How does it feel to move across borders within your own continent, only to be treated as foreign? What happens when the lands we flee to are shaped by the same systems we’re escaping?

“Between Lands, Between Selves is a solo dance piece that explores the complex realities of migration within Africa, where socio-political forces — colonial borders, xenophobia, and unstable governance — continue to shape how African bodies are moved, controlled, and erased.

“Rooted in Nela’s journey as a Cameroonian living in Ghana and working across the West African countries, the piece uses movement, symbolism, and raw embodiment to reflect on displacement, fractured identity, and the quiet resilience of queer artists constantly negotiating their place on the continent.

“Join us for this intimate performance where land, body, and self are subject to reinterpretation.”

🌅 We encourage you to arrive on time. The performance will utilise the rawness of natural light at dusk, and as such will start exactly at 5:00pm.
