About

Set in a youth work yard in the GDR in 1989. A new boy, fifteen-year-old Jan, who has no parents is brought in. Jana, who is two years older, bets that she will make Jan a man. The seduction turns into a deep mutual affection. The others are furious that Jana has spoiled their fun, they terrorize the two, who create a hiding place in the attic for tender hours. Jana becomes pregnant and wants to keep the child despite the dark prospects for the future. Jan is temporarily transferred to another institution. However, the two are reunited and their love proves to be stronger than anyone thought. After the Wall came down in the fall of 1989, they fled from the work yard. Arriving at the formerly heavily guarded border, Jana goes into labor. (Source: The second life of the film city Babelsberg. DEFA feature films 1946-1992)
