About

Since January 2025, Vienna-based artist Samuel Ekeh has been in residence with the Foundation for Contemporary Art - Ghana. In this period, the artist has developed research concerning approaches for “transforming movements into a medium for dialogue, connection, and artistic evolution in a city filled with vibrant cultural values”.

‘Aye Obinrin’ is a contemporary dance performance that explores the strength, resilience, and triumphs of African women through movement. It is produced by Alapeleca Inc. (@alapeleca_inc) & Alapeleca Kunst Zent (@alapelecakunstzent) and features dance and poetry by Jonika Koomson (@ewura_jon) & Mary Addis-Ababa Ackwerh (@_addis_ababa), choreography by Samuel Ekeh, visuals by Abass Ismail (@abass_ismail), light & sound by Nicholas Darko (Pro Optics Lightings @proopticsgh), and costume by Crazed Collections (@crazed_collections).
