MEDELLÍN | How do urban development projects reinforce asymmetrical power dynamics – and how can artistic practice document or expose this? These questions, rooted in the urban context of Medellín, were introduced by OtherNetwork researcher Camilo Quiroga during a panel discussion at Casa Tres Patios on 28 November 2024. The guests included artists Gabriela Pinilla (Bogotá) and Mauricio Carmona Rivera (Medellín), alongside Tony Evanko (Director of Casa Tres Patios), who each deal with themes of power, memory, segregation and resistance in their work. Casa Tres Patios has been dedicated to the relationship between art and social justice since 2007, serving as a resonant backdrop to unpack the ongoing struggle for power in Medellín’s built environment.
