About

Nadia Huggins is a multidisciplinary visual artist working with photography, video, and installation. Her practice merges documentary and conceptual approaches, centering Caribbean land and seascapes. She explores how memory and temporality shape transformation, how ecological change reconfigures communities, and how identity and belonging are continually negotiated through place and lived experience. Her work is particularly interested in a Caribbean visuality withdrawn from – yet still affected by – colonial and tourist gazes. Her underwater works examine the body in relation to marine ecosystems, using immersion to unsettle stable boundaries between self and environment. Recent presentations include Ocean Space in Venice (2025), the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Puerto Rico (2025), and Prospect 6 in New Orleans (2024). Her work is held in collections including the National Gallery of Jamaica and the Art Museum of the Americas.
