About

Seba Calfuqueo is a Mapuche artist and curator whose practice critically examines the social and political conditions shaping Mapuche subjects in contemporary Chile and Latin America, as well as the frictions between Indigenous worldviews and Western normativity. Their work engages the entwined complexities that connect issues of water, gender, land, and Indigeneity from a perspective grounded in communal embodied knowledge. Calfuqueo has participated in the Venice Biennale and Whitney Biennial (2024), the 34th Bienal de São Paulo (2021), and the Bienal Paiz, and their work is held in collections including Tate, Centre Pompidou, MALBA, and KADIST.
